Republican candidates for district attorney (DA) in Arapahoe County, Colorado, have clashed this week. Why? DA candidate has promised outgoing DA a job in the new office if and when Hansen takes over as DA. This revelation was made at the same time that the public learned leading candidate Leslie Hansen received a $5,000 contribution from Nathan Chambers, husband of outgoing DA Carol Chambers. Dave Dansky, a former law partner of Nate Chambers and Leslie Hansen, is another close friend of the outgoing DA Carol Chambers. Dansky manages a political support group that is financing the Hansen campaign.
What we have is a bunch of my law school classmates (Hansen, Nate Chambers, Dansky) who, after law school, all worked in the Denver DA’s office, have been hanging out for thirty years, and have shared law firms and jobs supporting the other for political office. Guess what folks? This is a model for how power gets handled in American politics.
Here is an interesting piece of trivia for those of you who like to trace the roots of power. These (DU) law school classmates had another close friend who socialized with and worked with them since the early 1980s. Who is that? . Small town, huh?
